Meet the Creator

Adam Foster of Adam Foster Fine Art Jewelry:

It’s not every day that one is presented with an opportunity to create a one-of-kind award to commemorate and pay homage to the artists and pioneers of the art of photography, and once more ,use their own skill and artisanal craft to do so. Thus was the challenge and collaboration between Saint Louis based fine jewelry artist/designer, Adam Foster and the International Photography Hall of Fame.
In doing so, Foster, a trained and skilled jewelry designer who uses old world techniques with modern design tools to make custom pieces and unique jewelry for clients all over the world in his Clayton atelier, wanted to create something special for the current inductees on the museum’s 50th Anniversary, as well as to honor those past inductees from previous years..71 awards in all. The result is a solid bronze camera lens, iconic, which the inductee can celebrate as his/her own objet d’art, a tribute to his/her own personal contribution to the art form.
Foster admits that he,”wanted the award to not to be overly designed and streamlined, yet something that was both iconic and significant as well as functional to the craft itself.”
He goes on to say,”The award needed to be its own thing. The lens is the constant for all photographers, and yet through the lens, each artist portrays his/her own vision through the lens and sees something different.  This is similar to  my own creative process: the precious stones and metal are the constants, but it’s what I reveal in each creation—the intricate detail and the individual personality of the wearer, that allows each piece to have a life of its own—a story of passion for the art form and tradition.
Foster’s awards will be the official award given to all future IPHF inductees.
