Gateway to the East: Mexico and St. Louis 1880-1980 with Daniel Gonzales

Explore the role Saint Louis played in Mexican peoples entry into the Midwest, the community they built, and the struggles they faced.

Daniel Gonzales earned his M.A. in Museum Studies from the University of Missouri-Saint Louis in the spring of 2010 as an E. Desmond Lee Fellow. Following graduation he began work as a researcher at the Missouri History Museum. In 2013, Daniel took on the position of Museum Curator with the St. Louis County Parks system. In 2016, Daniel was promoted to the position of Historian for St. Louis County. In this role he serves as staff liaison for the St. Louis County Historic Buildings Commission, assists with program and exhibit development at St. Louis County Historic Sites, and works through publications and public programming to expand public knowledge and understanding of St. Louis County history.
