Chouteau’s Landing: Photographs by Richard Sprengeler

For the past several years, Richard Sprengeler has been photographing Chouteau’s Landing, the warehouse district south of the Poplar Street Bridge. This rustic, largely abandoned area, is undergoing rehabilitation into a commercial/industrial complex. Influenced by the works of Charles Marville and Eugene Atget, (who photographed Old Paris before its destruction), Sprengeler hopes to record this unique picturesque area before its transformation into the 21st century. Sprengeler will discuss his methodology for photographing architecture, including equipment, composition, post-processing, and how to utilize lighting to best describe architectural forms.
