Since 1965
The International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum honors those who have made great contributions to the field of photography and preserves historic photographs to share with the world.
Building on the Past.
Moving into the Future.
IPHF is moving forward in new directions by building on our past. As we expand our membership and participation worldwide, we continue to honor new inductees into the Hall of Fame. We continue to curate our expanding collection of Hall of Fame works, while at the same time providing expanded educational programming and unique opportunities for photographers to join in worldwide competitions.
While having a gallery to call home in St. Louis had many benefits, it didn’t enhance our aspirations to grow globally, and we chose not to renew our lease at the end of 2022. Since then, we have increased our focus on web-based educational programming with lectures and workshops on Portrait, Landscape and Architectural photography and spirited discussions on topical issues like artificial intelligence. Our on-line classes are discounted or free for our members. In the near future, we plan to offer co-branding opportunities for programming that will help us reach new audiences worldwide.
“We are also pushing forward with photographic competitions, which extend our reach internationally and provide additional sources of income,” noted Bob Bishop, co-chair of the IPHF Board of Directors. “Our access to Hall of Fame inductees as judges helps raise our global visibility.” IPHF photographic competitions already set a new standard for photo contests. We provide attractive awards and more detailed and extensive feedback to the winners via the jurors’ statement on each of the selected images.
IPHF is also investigating new gallery programming initiatives, including enhanced on-line exhibitions of inductees’ works and additional live exhibitions through new traveling shows and museum lending programs. We believe that by expanding public access to these remarkable works of art we can help raise the profile of photography as the fine art form that is truly is.
The Board of Directors is committed to honoring individuals of note who’ve made significant contributions to the art, science, and craft of photography and who have leveraged the medium for betterment of humanity and the world as a whole.

Join Our Mission.
Our Mission
To educate the public about photographic history; collect, exhibit and preserve historical items and images; and honor significant contributors to the evolution of the art and science of photographic imaging.
Share History
When the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) association created the Photographic Art and Science Foundation, their largest goal was promoting the history of art and industry. In 1965, that mission led the Foundation to establish a permanent dedication to recognize historic photographers and inventors. In 1977, the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum was created.
Photography is a Community
If you’re interested in helping further the mission of preserving, sharing and offering education centered on the art of photography, get involved. Join the dedicated team of sponsors, donors, members, staff and volunteers who keep IPHF running, year after year.

SISTER CITY COLLABORATIVE
As part of the international efforts behind IPHF, the Sister City Collaborative is bridges culture between sister cities, St. Louis, Missouri, and Nanjing, China. Tim Hermann, Retired CEO, board chairman and former owner of Collins&Hermann, has been the greatest influence on establishing this cultural exchange. He lived most of the year in Shenzhen, China, and pushed for the creation of an outreach program. With collaboration from St. Louis World Trade Center and the Nanjing office of Sister Cities, IPHF is now able to host groups to explore St. Louis and learn more about the city through the lens of photography.
Special thanks to the sponsors of the Sister City Collaborative,
Anna Harris, Joseph Trad, Tim Hermann, Jay Nathanson, the Kranzberg Gallery and these generous organizations
